BOO of the Week 7/28

After missing a week of the BOO I am back and this one will probably not be the favorite of the head of PineRiders fan club (Dom).

As most of you probably already know, Sunday night before one of the bigger games of the season for his team, Manny Ramirez pulled his annual stunt and brought up a trade involving himself. Manny told the press Sunday night that if the Sox found a trade that benefited them he would be open to it (Manny is a 10-5 guy meaning he has been in the league for 10 years and with the same team for 5 thus allowing him to reject any trade).

Now I don't know about you, but I cannot take anything Manny says seriously. In 2005 around this time Ramirez wanted to be traded, but much to my disappointment (the Mets were at the top of the list for trade partners) he remained a Boston Red Sox. Later on that year after a loss to the White Sox in the playoffs, Manny told Theo Epstein and the Sox that he would not show up to Spring Training and demanded a trade.

Now in July of 2008 still with the Red Sox and with his team in the middle of a heated three team division race finding themselves one game away from getting swept by the Yankees, Manny goes and runs his mouth again. Of course all this will do is provide distractions for the team until Thursday's deadline comes and goes leaving Manny still a Red Sox. After all everyone knows that this is utter nonsense and the Sox have no intention of trading the future Hall of Famer.

I actually like Manny Ramirez and I usually find his "Manny being Manny" antics to be amusing. However his comments on Sunday were selfish and do nothing but cause problems for his team. Luckily the Sox have a good skipper in Terry Francona and he should not allow this to get out of hand.

However for Manny there is really only one last thing that can be said....

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I could honestly care less about Manny Ramirez and his drama....However, as found on metsblog.com......this does scare me a lot

In a report for SI.com, citing ‘people familiar with talks,’ Jon Heyman writes that the Phillies a ‘may be the front-runners’ to acquire Red Sox OF Manny Ramirez.

Don't buy the hype mj, the phils can't trade for him without losing a big piece. And at the end of the day, their lineup can smack the ball already, what the Cheesesteaks need is a legitimate pitcher.
